Welcome to the Selsey Shantymen!

WE ARE THE SELSEY SHANTYMEN AND WE HOPE WE FIND YOU WELL!

Selsey Shantymen are heading into another exciting year, with a full diary and some great gigs to look forward to. We will also be recording some videos of a few of our favourite songs and…who knows…maybe getting back into the studio for a 2nd album!

As we have done for a few years now we will once again be doing several free gigs in front of the Lifeboat Station in Selsey to raise funds for the RNLI. These will be on Sunday afternoons throughout the summer (weather and lifeboat callouts permitting of course).

Some of the highlights for us this year: Being invited once again to sing in support of the Mayor of Chichester’s charities. This will be at the Assembly Rooms, North Street. Another return adventure: we’ve been asked back to Belgium for the third year to sing at the Oostende voor Anker (Ostend at Anchor) festival in May. We’ll also be taking to the high seas aboard the SS Shieldhall for an afternoon cruise on the Solent from Southampton. I’ve lost count of the number of times we have been invited to sing on the wonderful Shieldhall! We’re also in the planning stages for a concert at the Minerva Theatre in Chichester next January – keep an eye out for details as they become available.

Latest news from the Selsey Shantymen

The Selsey Shantymen were brought together in 2018 by Selsey local John Bradley (Sloop), without whom the rousing sounds of sea shanties would not be heard in Selsey. Although not actively singing with the group now, John remains our honorary vice president.
